Mount Laurel Library
Exhibits and Displays Policy
Library exhibit and display spaces are primarily for the promotion of library materials, programs and services. Preference will always be given to library needs. When the Lobby Display cases are not otherwise in use, the library may provide these spaces to local community organizations or individuals engaged in educational, cultural, intellectual, or charitable activities.
The Library recognizes its role in nurturing local talent and culture, and therefore extends its preference in scheduling displays of local schools, civic and community groups and artists. The Library also encourages displays by collectors, crafts people and hobbyists. Other displays may be devoted to an aspect of community life, science, education, family life, local history, community accomplishments, national anniversaries or events, or traveling exhibits in various fields and areas of interest. The library reserves the right to review the content and arrangement of all exhibits, and the Library Director or designee makes the final determination as to whether the materials comply with these guidelines. Exhibits and displays that are of a commercial nature will not be accepted. Library exhibit areas are not intended for commercial or partisan use.
Requests for display space must be scheduled in advance. Requests are on a first come, first served basis. All exhibits must fit within the space allocated.
The presence of a particular display in the library does not indicate that the library advocates or endorses the viewpoints of exhibits or exhibitors.
The library assumes no responsibility for the preservation, protection, or possible damage or theft of any item exhibited or displayed. Items are placed on display in the library at the owner’s risk.
Display of Holiday Decorations
The library may decorate the building or grounds to reflect the various holidays and celebrations of the community. The library will refrain from using any symbols or items that are specifically religious.
