Mount Laurel Library

Bulletin Board Policy

The Mount Laurel Library recognizes its role as a source of community information. Because of space limitations, however, the library must set limits and priorities for distribution or display of printed materials (flyers, brochures, posters, etc.) within the library’s facilities.

The Bulletin Board may be used for posting the following types of information from nonprofit organizations only:

  • Announcements of forthcoming or continuing educational, social, cultural, or entertainment activities.
  • Fliers, brochures, announcements, or schedules distributed or sponsored by a nonprofit organization, group or agency, or by any federal, state, or local government agency pertaining to services provided by government to citizens.
  • Educational, social, or cultural services directories facilitating contact between citizens and organizations.
  • “Community Switchboard” ‐type information (i.e., Hotline, Suicide Prevention, etc.).

The following will not be accepted for posting:

  • Items promoting commercial products or services, either from individuals or companies
  • Items endorsing or opposing the election of any candidate for public office
  • Items endorsing or opposing the adoption of federal, state or local legislation
  • Religious proselytizing
  • Personal notices

Organizations or individuals interested in posting an item may either bring the item into the library or mail it. The Library Director or designee will determine whether the item may be posted, based on this policy. Items not accepted for posting will not be returned. Unauthorized items posted on the bulletin board will be removed and discarded.

Items will remain posted, as space allows, until the event, or deadline for registration for the event, has passed. Library staff will be responsible for removing notices.

Acceptance or rejection of material for display does not imply approval or disapproval by the library of the ideas or opinions expressed. The library does not assume responsibility or liability for materials exhibited in library facilities.
