American Girl Doll Guidelines
- Each kit contains 1 doll, 1 outfit set and accessories, 1 book in the character’s series, and a journal to record your experiences while borrowing the doll.
- Each American Girl doll can be checked out for 14 days to adult cardholders.
– Dolls may be renewed once if there are no requests from other patrons. - Only one doll per account can be checked out at a time.
- Dolls may be requested and held for adult cardholders.
- The doll late fee is $5 a day with a maximum late fee of $25.
- American Girl doll kits must be returned to a staff member at the check-out desk. Do not return doll kits via a book drop.
- Borrowers will be charged list price for any lost or damaged garment or accessory. Borrowers will be charged the full cost of the doll if the doll is lost, damaged, or destroyed.
- Borrowers are prohibited from altering the appearance of the doll by cutting or washing her hair, painting her nails, or other means. Alteration to the doll’s appearance may result in repair fees, up to and including the full cost of the doll.
The lost fees for dolls include the cost of the doll, carrier, and accessories, plus a $5 processing fee. Dolls typically retail for $135, accessory sets are $40, and carriers are $25. Archived or retired dolls may have additional charges.
